My left eyelid has been twitching on and off since the end of last week. It doesn’t hurt, but it is very annoying. Of course I had to Google “eye twitching” to make sure that the twitching wasn’t indicative of anything serious. According to About.com, involuntary eyelid muscle contraction is called myokymia. The condition occurs and disappears spontaneously, but can sometimes last up to three weeks. Frequent contributing factors include too much caffeine, high levels of anxiety, fatigue, stress, overwork, and a lack of sleep.
Let’s see…
Anxiety — check!
Fatigue — check!
Stress — check!
Lack of sleep — check!
I really hope the spasms go away before the wedding. I don’t want to be distracting by a twitching eyelid while I’m standing under the chuppah next to J trying to remember my vows (which I still need to write).

Just two weeks now until J and I fly back to NJ for the wedding! It seems like just yesterday we had a month to go, and now the wedding is practically around the corner. But before the big day arrives, I still have one more trip to make back East for my final dress fitting and bachelorette party.
Time is really FLYING by… (sorry, couldn’t resist)

Last night J and I had our first dance lesson. Our instructor is a member of the Omaha Jitterbugs and taught us in the small studio she built in her home. We spent the hour learning how to look elegant while slow dancing to our first dance song, which has a bit of an unusual tempo. I danced in heels like I will be at the wedding, and my left calf was so sore when we were finished. A couple hours later, my whole body ached — my back, my shoulders, my forearms. I had no idea that slow dancing could be such a workout, but I guess that’s what happens when you try to hold a certain posture for a long period of time; you engage all of these muscles that you normally don’t use.
At our next lesson we’ll review what we learned yesterday and then add some new steps to our repertoire. (Hopefully I’ll remember everything on the day of the wedding!) In the upcoming weeks we’ll also learn how to Jitterbug and Foxtrot. I’m so excited!

I think Elle Magazine’s horoscopes are particularly accurate. Here are the highlights from my May horoscope:
- May proves to be a busy, active decision-making month for you. You can’t just sit still and wait for the grass to grow and the paint to dry. Choices must be made, sometimes under duress, in order for improvements and opportunities to manifest. You instinctively understand that putting things off almost always makes things worse.
- Saturn moves direct on the 2nd, encouraging you and those closest to you to make important decisions affecting health, career and housing matters. There may be a well-defined time frame to accomplish certain things. This sort of forced expedience will help you get organized.
- Jupiter, Mercury and Neptune all go retro this month, suggesting that changes in your status are likely. Some of you may go from single to married or vice versa.
- A Full Moon on the 19th emphasizes the importance of delegation and assignment of duties and authority. You sort through whom you want to work with and be represented by. You also look at the way things have changed during the past months and decide which activities and affiliations are still priorities. You sift through your life and eliminate things that no longer have much purpose.
- It’s time to move forward. Sometimes, we all need a little push to wake us up – something that rocks the boat just enough to get our attention. May is your wakeup call, Ram.
- Before the end of the month, you’re likely to make very important commitments to people, beliefs and causes.
Um, did I mention that I’m getting married THIS month! Plus there may also be some more significant changes in my life in the pipeline…
(No–I’m not having a baby, so stop thinking that!)
