Vintage Postcard Lake

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for summer to end. It’s just been too dang hot, and the sooner it transitions to fall, the sooner I can start taking Briscoe on long neighborhood walks, the sooner my hair will stop frizzing, the sooner I can take photos outside without my camera lens fogging up and the sooner J returns home from his deployment. Really, J’s return is what I care about the most. It’s been a LONG (hot) summer without him.

What are your weekend plans? On Sunday we’re celebrating my friend L’s 30th birthday with brunch at The Woodcliff Restaurant in Freemont. I can personally attest to the fact that 30 is not as bad as people make it seem — or as I believed it would be. Actually, I will be turning 30 and A HALF in just over a month. Woot for making it almost halfway!

Mila's Daydreams Up Scenario

Is it sad that one of the highlights of my week was learning that Dairy Queen now offers a mini Blizzard? Now I can feel less guilty when eating ice cream for dinner, which is something I sometimes do when J is deployed.

What do you have on the agenda for the weekend? On Sunday, two friends and I are throwing a co-ed baby shower at my house, so this week has been all about planning, planning, planning. I’ll be sure to post photos of the party next week.

paul rudd: bat mitzvah DJ

I may have had a giant ice sculpture of a telephone and a bevy of dancers from MTV’s The Grind at my Bat Mitzvah bash, but Jewish Forward web editor Gabrielle Birkner had DJ Paul Rudd at hers.

Can you say “mega-jeal?”

My 13-year-old self is, like, totally disappointed. Way to drop the ball, Mom and Dad.

Moontree Letterpress Business Card

Every Monday, Moontree Letterpress has a six-word story contest on their blog. This week’s topic was “Words of Advice,” and the prize was 50 custom business or calling cards.

I love letterpress anything, so I decided to enter. There were 25 entries… and mine was chosen as the winning submission! Can you believe it?
