farewell, domino magazine

I’m sad to report that Domino, one of my favorite shelter magazines, has folded.

From New York magazine:

“This decision to cease publication of the magazine and its website is driven entirely by the economy,” Condé Nast CEO Chuck Townsend says in a press release that went out just now. “Although readership and advertising response was encouraging in the early years, we have concluded that this economic market will not support our business expectations.”

What does that mean for those of us with subscriptions? Do we get our money back?

I don’t think people get their money back… I know, annoying.

Doesn’t this suck?! I think they give you another magazine in its place, which is a huge disappointment.

    Aloha,

I found your blog in an attempt to make sense regarding the e-mail I received. Yes, the e-mail that also has an offer and a direct link to subscribe to the same magazine that is closing.

I’m trying to find out if there is any truth to this e-mail as I find it hard to believe they would simply ‘e-mail’ subscribers as not everyone has e-mail (believe it, or not).

With all the other crap Conde Nast publishes, I can’t believe this one got the axe.

They must have seen it coming, but happily took payment for my 2-year subscription last month.

If it is true, I will truly miss it. I only subscribe to one publication, and this was it. It had it all.
