roses are a girl’s best friend

J surprised me the other day by having a bouquet of small roses delivered to the apartment. We haven’t seen in other in over a month, and I was really touched by this gesture. He’s not usually a flower-giving guy; he’d rather spend his money on “things that don’t die.” But I love flowers, especially when they are artfully arranged.
The first thing I did when I received the bouquet was remove all of the leaves and most of the thorns. Then I cut them down to fit in a mason jar rather than in the generic glass vase they came in.

I wish I new more about flower arranging. I’m sure there are books I could buy. I wonder if they offer any classes on the topic in Omaha. Here are some arrangements I love from Abbey Goes Design Scouting. For her 29th birthday, Abbey’s husband gave her 52 envelopes filled with a bit of cash so she could buy herself fresh flowers every week. What an amazingly creative gift.
