drusy love

So remember those gold and quartz drusy earrings I was drooling over at Trocadero? Well, I got them for my birthday, and I love them. I wore them to my bowling party and then all day on Sunday. Can I tell you how many compliments I received? Tons!

JHill of Sacrebleu! is also a fan of drusy (which she spells with an extra “e”), specifically the Melissa Joy Manning drusy agate necklace and ring above. So gorgeous!

amor verdadero necklace

My Amor Verdadero (True Love) may be returning home from his deployment in as little as two weeks! Perhaps when he gets back, he’ll buy me one of these lovely little 14k gold-fill discs from Anne Kiel as a belated Valentine’s day present.

with this ring

Dear Generous Husband,

Born in March, my birthstone is Aquamarine. I think these simple stacking 14K gold and Aquamarine rings would make a fantastic 29th birthday present. (Yikes, 29!) What do you think?

Love,

Your Adoring and Appreciative Wife

PS – I found a 20% discount on this designer, oh wonderful husband. Just let me know if you’d like it…

feel good friday

For days when you’re feeling down, this serotonin necklace (based on the molecular shape of serotonin) might be just the talisman you need to start feeling happy again.  Designed by a scientist-turned-jeweler (true story!), the pendant is made of sterling silver, 1.5 inches wide, and is attached to an adjustable 18 inch sterling silver oval link chain.

But if the serotonin necklace doesn’t do the job, there’s always Prozac*… and Jonathan Adler’s cheeky canister to hold your happy pills.

*Disclaimer: I don’t take Prozac, but if I did, I’d definitely use Adler’s Prozac container to store my meds.

daily candy deals: maya brenner

Back in 2006, when I was a publicist at DK Publishing, I worked on Maya Brenner’s book, Beaded Jewelry: Create Your Own Style. Maya was a doll, and her story was inspiring: social worker turned jewelry designer to the stars. Not fully realizing how expensive jewelry-making is as a hobby, I signed up for a bead stringing class at the JCC with a friend. She and I spent hundreds of dollars on supplies and only made a couple of pieces each, but I took such pride in the earrings and necklaces I created. And that’s the point, right?
