School starts on Monday for Omaha public school children. Growing up in NJ, school always began after Labor Day. I can’t imagine having to go to school in August.
I used to love getting ready for the new school year. There was the all-important first day of school outfit to buy, along with a new backpack and color-coordinated folders and notebooks for my classes. Pencils were sharp, pens full of ink, loose-leaf paper crisp and white.
