“the luckiest” of the irish
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! How will you be celebrating the national holiday of Ireland? By eating corned beef and cabbage? Drinking pints of Guinness? Participating in a bar crawl?
J and I will be enjoying some homemade corned beef and cabbage before heading down to the Omaha Music Hall to see Ben Folds. I’ve never been to a Ben Folds concert, but his music holds a special place in my heart. At our rehearsal dinner (which we called a “celebration dinner”), with his brother playing guitar, J serenaded me with Ben Folds’s “The Luckiest.” My husband has the most beautiful voice, and hearing him sing such a heartwrenching song put me over the edge. I was bawling. He was bawling. Our guests were bawling. It was the most beautiful moment, one that we don’t even have on video but that will live in my memory forever.
And while it wasn’t our official first dance song at the reception, we did enjoy a private moment on the dance floor while it was playing.
I’m sure that if Ben Folds plays “The Luckiest” tonight, the tears will be falling. I hope he does.
I saw Ben Folds about a month ago when he was here in Toronto, it was my first time. I would go again in a second, he was incredible!! Have fun!
